If it's a 'Q' run, no matter how good or bad, disengaged or a perfect team in sync, it's great, it's a great dog, great course, etc ....
if no 'Q' then it's immediately excused as 'oh we're just here to have fun', no matter how awesomely fantastic the run was. The dog actually does not get much acknowledgement, rather excused for often handler's error for ' let me be sloppy, half-ass, don't give a damn, cause I'm just here for fun.
Excuse me??? Aren't we all??? Cause honestly I bet you million bucks many dogs would much prefer to spend a day digging in the yard, playing ball/frisbee/whatever, napping, than all day in a crate for 35 sec of fame for 'our fun'.
I truly believe the phrase 'just for fun' should totally be banned. I have now developed a very strong disdain for the word FUN. It's difficult to put into words the feeling of just going out there and just having a blast - maybe taking a risk, trying something new, but just a moment in the "sun" with your best friend. Worrying too much about anything, is not good for the soul and will usually bring on more of whatever is worrying you. You were able to put all of this into words. Thanks for taking the time to write this all down. See you tomorrow.Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15198575841113168249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8528861203794212216.post-49390371306557669142011-05-14T18:30:25.450-07:002011-05-14T18:30:25.450-07:00You hit it, nail on head. I was 0-fer today, but my dog ran great and had a huge grin on his face so I did, too.
Thank you for reminding us what makes it fun!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05867653932053940012noreply@blogger.com
